Hi, as title says, I need Wi-Fi in an office that is aprox 300/400ft away from the house router, I suppose its some sort of Wi-Fi extender, or is it? :)

Any ideas guys and thanks in advance.

What you need is a repeater or access point. And you have a wired connection from the router to the repeater. In your case, the distance is such that you'd need an intermediary switch as well: the maximum length of a segment is 100m but you'll need a far longer length by the time you've routed it round all the obstructions, up the stairs, round the corners etc. So you'll need to break it into two with a switch in the middle. Unless you want to use fibre-optic cable...

Thank you for your advice, repeater or access point, not sure what these are but will look them up.
So, a simple plug-in device such as an wifi extender will not work in this case then?
I didn't think they would myself, Thanks again.

Thank you all for your advice, this wasn't for me, its for my son.
In between times, unknown to me, he went and bought a Devolo wifi 500 network kit.
We connected all up, put in the network keys and its working, I didn't think it would.
So, andicole0, those in your link would have worked too.

Thank you all again.
