What you need is a repeater or access point. And you have a wired connection from the router to the repeater. In your case, the distance is such that you'd need an intermediary switch as well: the maximum length of a segment is 100m but you'll need a far longer length by the time you've routed it round all the obstructions, up the stairs, round the corners etc. So you'll need to break it into two with a switch in the middle. Unless you want to use fibre-optic cable...

Thank you all for your advice, this wasn't for me, its for my son.
In between times, unknown to me, he went and bought a Devolo wifi 500 network kit.
We connected all up, put in the network keys and its working, I didn't think it would.
So, andicole0, those in your link would have worked too.
