On wed or at the most a week later i am looking into starting to upgrading my 3 year old system

The first part is a max of £600 where i want to get Motherboard, Cooler, CPU and Ram

This primarlily for gaming so i want a set up based on that. Here is some information on what i am looking for as well as what i have along with a few question in the hoipe your able to guide me,

Owned:

Case Coolmaster HAF922(Cant add the extra fans to the side windows on this s version)
PSU: Coolmaster RD-600-ASAA http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=39

Two Options that iam looking at the moment are I5 2500k and the i7 2600k overclocked bundles

i5

I know i am getting a Hybrid hard drive as well as a Gigabyte super overclocked 560Ti (all thought not at this time)

no matter the deal i want to change the cooler to a Corsair H50

so now to the questions

1: Can my PSU handlle the new system i get including the gfx card and hybrid drive (i will be upgrading the psu later to add a second card)

2: For gaming is it really worth getting the i7 or should i get the i5 and get more ram (to 8gb) or possable get a hybrid drive now i could perswade the wife to let me get the gfx as well now depeding on the choices

I basicly dont understand of there would be a huge difference between the I5/i7 for gaming i totlay undered for video editing etc but not games and i also dont onderstand what i am paying for wit hte difference in prices between the 2 deals for each cpu type

3: Out of the 2 deals i posted for both i5 and i7 should i get

1. i dont recognise the PSU myself, but im going to give a tentative yes for a 1 graphics card system. dont try this with a two or more card system without a bigger PSU

2. the i7 ihas virtually no advantage for gaming over the i5. the only difference is hyperthreading, and no games on the market today can take advantage of it. battlefield 3 is going to be the first one when it is released i believe

3. to be honest, i wouldnt go for any of them. if you buy the same parts and overclock the chips yourself you will save a huge sum of money. if you really dont want to overclock it yourself, go for the cheapest of the two i5 bundles. they are virtually the same, and i am stunned at the price difference between them

OcUK doesn't stock the H50 anymore either. Will have to be a little more for the H60 or a bit less for an Antec Kuhler. (The antec by the way is 'supposedly' better than a H50 anyway!)

Thank you all for your help u have given me things to think about

What you thinking about getting?

I really don't think it's worth the overclocked bundles as your paying an extra £40-50 just to change some settings in the bios. There's a guide on how to overclock in the overclocking and cooling section and there's plenty of sandybridge-specific guides on the web, and then you always have these forums to ask where people will be more than happy to help.

A quick run through of the overclocking of sandybridge is litterally change the value of the CPU multiplier to 'x43', for example, to start with and then run some tests to make sure it's stable, if it is, then you have yourself an i5/i7 overclocked @4.3GHz.

That's my understanding of it anyway, and I'm sure someone will point it out if I'm wrong (knowing the people on here :p lol)
