Mate at work swears there is a device that you can plae a glass on, press a button and it makes it very cold... like a insant freeze.
ive search bay of e's, google and other places for gadgets, not found this yet.

Anyone know what he is talking about?

This sounds like some kind of peltier device, but it would have to take a massive wattage to become freezing cold, and even then it wouldn't be able to instantly cool an empty glass, let alone a full one.
