Needing Audio or video Codecs?

Morning all,

I've got a set of AVI Video files I'm trying to play on my machine. However, I can't see the video or there's no audio. How do i find out what codecs it needs?

Tried WMP 11 but it said error downloading them..

Install ffdshow or VLC Player they play pretty much everything
