Hi all,

I came across some images of Nehalem / X58 Chipset (Tylersburg) motherboards. I've read that the development of Nehalem / X58 is at a 'Mature' state now and looks like it's definitely going to be released Q4 2008. I thought you all might enjoy a quick look.

Sweet, I know what my next PC is going to have in it :D

Apparently the difference between Core 2 Duo and Nehalem is the same as it was between Pentium 4 and Core 2 Duo, so we should see a nice big improvement.

Yes Craig, I've heard that too. Apparently the Nehalem 2.6ghz they tested was quicker than the QX9770. Only the extreme versions are being released initially though. I've put my build off completely until Nehalem is out.

thats pity will have to be big upgrade ddr3 ram new mob new cpu ,new cpu fans/ waterblocks :(

Yup! I haven't got a system at the moment so mine will all be from scratch. Well I have an empty Silverstone TJ07B-W and Bay-HDD Convertor and that's it. Apparently though, Nehalem supports DDR 2 too.

That would be perfect if that's the case!

Yeah, well PCSTATS say so:

Nehalem's architecture requires about twice as many connects, thus it's being introduced with a new 1366-pin LGA socket that is slightly rectangular in shape. Obviously, this means entirely new motherboards and heatsinks. On the plus side, Nehalem can operate with DDR2 or DDR3 memory, depending on the path mobo manufacturers take.

The Extreme Edition will be around £1K ($1360) as Intel seem to think this is the correct price for such a high end part thats why the QX9770 is around £900-999 now (if you look around).

I'm going from nothing -> not extreme nehalem!

Wouldnt pay no more than £500 and wouldn't want to pay that much to be honest.

RAM is going to be a major issue. Gonna wait till these babies come out and wait for a couple of revisions of motherboards. I remember the Core 2 Duos where the initial mobos turned out to be pants compared to the P35 and X38...

How long will the revisions take?

I hope it wouldn't take to long since my E2200 /3870 /6400 4gb is getting slightly slow i cant wait for my next setup which probably be Nehalem 2.93 / 4870 1GB x2/x3 / 12gb DDR3 and some nice X58 mobo ..... caaaaaant waaaaait........ giveee alreadyy pelase :).

I'm going for similiar setup Phoenix. I'm sure the new boards will be great and when better ones are released I'll simply replace it. I aint waiting any longer than Crimbo! I want to get some serious water cooling too.
