neighbour + x-files = errrrm

So one of our neighbours in this apartment block has a pretty meaty sound system - it doesn't really bother us, you can just hear the bass booming every now and again. Yesterday around 3.00pm he started watching The X-Files (you can hear the music clearly). We heard it finish and then another one started straight away. Then after that finished a third one started without pause. No biggy....he's a nerd having an X-Files marathon.
However, this went on all night - I went to sleep at around 1am to the sound of yet another episode starting. Now I've just got in from work today (4pm) and he's still going!!! Same story, one finishes and another starts instantly

I once watched 3 episodes of Buffy in a row and that was enough for me. This guy has been going 24 hours straight by the sound of it! I'm starting to think he's gone on holiday and left the DVD on repeat play or something.

Everywhere I go now I think I can hear the damn X-Files music

Guess I just had to vent

Maybe the DVD is set to repeat and the guy is lying dead on the couch. It's a possibility
Funny smell coming from his place yet?

Actually, that thought had occured....

Update:

OK, it's coming up on 48 straight hours and this guy is still going We agreed last night that if it continued we would pop down and talk to the landlord. I'll be back later with an update

Hehe - here I am.

So, my missus talked to the woman in the office downstairs (who works for the management company...) and she said it's a couple who live next door and the guy is a complete "computer nerd"....apparently he has 4 PC's that are on all the time. The wife didn't mention the fact we have 3 PC's and a laptop on order......which later made me wonder if it was actually me she was thinking of!

Anyway, she said this couple are away quite often and leave all their stuff on. So I suspect they've gone away and left The X-Files playing on repeat (still going after 50 hours now, btw...) and I think maybe I have the answer! I think he got this kicking sound system at Xmas (that's when we first heard it) and I reckon they've gone away somewhere and he's left The X-Files on repeat to break in the speakers/sub!

What makes me think this? Well, I did a similar thing - I got some new Sennheiser headphones for Xmas and left them playing on repeat all day to break them in We're both obviously big nerds and think the same way. Either that, or next door opens into a parallel universe and there's another me in there....which would be in keeping with the X-Files theme I guess.

To test my theory further I plan to try and listen at the wall and work out if it's the same episode playing all the time

Hehe - it's still going......what's that now? 75 hours-ish? Fortunately it's not that loud and it's only the music you can hear....it doesn't bother me

I'm gonna have to introduce myself when he gets back. I will then try and persuade him to join OCUK and post on here
