So we're having some repointing done on our house and the neighbour who's a nice guy said, albeit a few months ago, that he would pitch in to get their sides of the shared chimney done.
As I say this was a few months ago in winter and we're having it done in lime so a while has passed but I'm unsure how to broach the subject with them again.
I've no reason to think they would turn around and deny all knowledge of it but wondered if others have had this experience and how you bought it up with them when the time came?

The guy who will most likely be doing it is a guy at work (ex-bricky) so I'm getting a good price from him and he will give a cost breakdown in case I need to show the neighbour but I'm wondering how best I can bring up the subject.

Surely it's just a case of knocking on the door one evening and saying you've got someone coming round to repoint your house, you mentioned a while back you'd be interested in getting the shared chimney done.

If he says he's still interested, then great tell him you'll get your guy to put together a quote just for the chimney, and if he's happy then go halves.

If he's no longer interested, then i guess no need for your guy to put together some quotes.
