Better suited to Mumsnet I'm sure, but I'm curious about one of my neighbour's children.

I'm not sure how old the child is, but it's definitely not a baby. It screams (not cries, screams) relentlessly for over an hour at a time, several times a day - morning, night, afternoon. It's been doing this every day for at least six months.

I know toddlers have phases of screaming or times where they might scream a few times in a row, but this seems like a great deal more than that, it just screams, takes a breath, screams over and over until it eventually runs out of energy I suppose, and then an hour or two later it starts again.

Question is, to the OcUK parents, does this sound "normal"?

I did wonder if it might be autism or something similar.
I should clarify, I have no idea where this child lives, I live in an apartment that backs onto several other large apartment buildings and the screaming could be coming from any one of well over 300 apartments, so I can't speak to the parents. Plus they likely don't speak English anyway.

It must be soul destroying to actually share an apartment with.

Looked at thread title, yeah this is a cheesefest thread

Looked at username
I should have written it in cheesefests' tone of voice just to really throw people off.

Don't you hate screaming children? We have got one next door and it screams non stop. I think the parents should go and work a shift in a supermarket so they can see how difficult it is to put up with other people's problems!

That does not sound normal but I would be more concerned if the parents were shouting and screaming all the time. Can you try talking to them about children indirectly and see if anything comes back?

Obviously you are better placed than I to draw a judgement.
No I can't, it could be coming from any one of over 300 apartments so I really have no idea which of them contains the screamer.

It hasn't screamed since lunchtime so that's good :D
