By popular demand the Neo Geo Pocket color has hit seriously cool and he's a thread dedicated to this weird and wonderful console!

Please show us what you have for the NGPC, where we can find games for it and general chat on the platform

I'll kick off with my Neo Geo Pocket Color collection!

Found my pocket colour box complete with instructions for 5 whole European nations and confirmed this one is the "Anthracite" colour one... Aka black with cool slightly less black spots (needs a daytime photo)

Got to say Sonic and Puzzle Link 2 are the most played in that collection so far, they are both the most accessable and engrossing for commuting to work. Need to get getter more time into Match of the Millenium when two player kicks off in 2 weeks

I really want one now ;)

What should I be looking for? And what sort of price is considered fair for a system?

Well I feel like the box is a massive would be nice for the system (it's well made and has a little space inside so doesn't break first time you open it but its a console box so you only open it once), have seen a silver boxed one like elf_2009's for £55 in a cex and would use that as a bench mark for buying one. The eBay prices are a bit wild when it is console only but if there's a bundle with boxed games then there are deals to be had. Been helping a colleague at work find one that went for £75 with UK metal slug 1 and pocket tennis which is a good deal given the boxed games are £45-£55 as a pair.

Have a look on cex online for the colours you want to start with though.

Here's mine with Sonic on its way and hopefully Metal Slug Mission 2 if it's still in stock next week

Someone without the black one! :D have you noticed fatal fury has a typo in the printed name of the game in the top left?

Had a pocket for a while put havent played on it much, just ordered a new game for it to try on it dark arms, looks like it could be fun and only £6 from cex.

The dive game looks strangely fun! been looking for one of the two versions for a little while, is it worth it? That's a bargain for Dark Arms, might have to order it for my self

I'll have to arrange all my games for a photo some time! Hardware wise, two uk pockets and a japanese mini pocket. Plus the AC adapter!

You have the AC adaptor?!!?!? that's got to trump the link cable on the odd accessories list...

Been having a debate if the gba (original shape) case will do a good job as a protective carry case for the neo geo? Mine lives in my work backpack and needs something sensible to sit in.

Am I right in thinking the screens aren't backlit? If so how are they to play in evenings etc? Under a lamp like the old gameboy days?

Sadly no back lights, but you can apparently mod the gba front lit screen into one... Under a lamp or sunlight it's pretty sweet still :)

Here is my small collection of the Neo Geo Pocket:

Thanks for viewing.

LOOK AT ALL THE BOXES! Nice work

I reckon it was pingwing!

:eek::eek::eek:

I only got in on that copy of Dark Arms...

Wouldn't have deprived elh of a game I love

Do love the font they use on the Japanese one's for color on the front, little more fun than the standard uk one. Is cotton good fun to play? (ignoring how much it costs at the moment)

Read a rumour that most the carts are multi language and it picks up based on the systems settings, is this actually true or being hopeful the main Neo Geo system's trait carries into the hand held?

I need to get a lot better at MOTM FAST! KoF and Turf masters are on the list of things to find as a mate picked them up recently as a pair for 14 quid and we're aiming to have most the multiplayer games on the platform between us, makes that link cable worth wile!

Started playing puyo pop this week and am finding it a tough learning curve, it's not as simple as Tetris or Columns from back in the day by any means

How are finding Dark Arms?? I've had to resort to some sort of guide to work out what to do and still keep failing at it!! :(

We had our very first go with the link cable last week and could not get over how good match of the millennium is two player on this console!! Three of us in the car and we were pretty close to fighting not to drive across France so we could take turns playing. the response speed between the two consoles is incredibly impressive and feels like you're both playing on the same screen.

Did also give Samurai Showdown 2 a go which is nearly as good, but lacks that little bit of magic from match of the millennium

Other big pick up of the month, it was looking at me and I like the box...

Took mine to Serbia with a couple of mates last weekend to keep me happy on the plane, showed off Sonic and struggled to get it back out of their hands

Think I need to get my head into something other than puzzle link for the train to work though, I'm only 4 cards away from finishing it

Loving the boxes! :)

Went out to St Albans today to pick up their copy of Faselei! only to have an entertaining experience checking it was the UK version and not the Japanese language version (guy working there loved I had the console with me), put the game in and it was the black and white World Cup 98 game instead!! Positively gutted

So it's been a quiet couple of months on the NGPC front... Did however splash a whole £40 on this beauty!

I'm in two minds about the second revision console, the sound is better, the feel is better (it's a nicer shape), there's just a nagging feeling the screen is a little less rich in colour, which was supported by my jealous colleague at work who wants one of these so badly!

Metal slug has this magic ability to eat time and energy like no other game :)

Think I've finished my semi reasonable pick ups with this one:

Just have cotton and Fasali to find/re-mortgage for

Short answer, cotton on its own is a pig to get hold of and is worth hundreds, you're a 1/10th of a million of pennies-aire...

Actually sounds a cool cart, pics?
