Ok I was trying to flash my bios to enable me to run a 4400 x2 I down loaded live update 3 or what ever its called then ran it.

Mistakenly I opted for the windows flash, I created a bios back up incase it all went t1ts up then proceded to flash the bios. It said it was complete and restarted. It came up with the noe plat screen but would not go any further, I could not get into the bios settings. I tried rebooting a few times and nothing. Asuming the worst I rebooted with the bios recovery disk and it went through the flash cycle however after that I get the neo plat screen and can get into the bios settings (del) however after that it keeps stopping on the verify dmi (or sometinng like that) and then it just hangs.

Have I mashed the mobo or is there something I can do??

please help this old fool

Usually after a flash you have to reset the settings in the BIOS.

Make sure all the ram/cpu speeds have been detectedproperly and ensure the HDD's etc have been detected.

If not, choose the option to 'load defaults' in the BIOS.

yeah, worst case scenario with a BIOS flash is you don't get a POST of any kind, just a black screen, so your scenario is hopefully recoverable. As per the previous post, clearing CMOS is best advice.

I find it a little bit of a worry sometimes.

Everytime I hear about people who have killed off a BIOS update because they used some form of Live Update, and the funny thing is, that I no longer bother with any other way!

I have flashed my Neo2 perhaps 20 or 25 times, with the Windows flash, most of the time trying out an experimental BIOS, other times using the MSI one, and never have I had any worries.

I have also done it for my Neo4 at least half a dozen times, and also with my older Delta boards too.

I can with all honesty say, that with all the PCs that have gone through my hands in the last few years that I have flashed using some form of Windows flasher, that I have never oncehad any kind of worry what-so-ever!

Dont get me wrong here though... Some makes of some boards, I would not risk it, and I will do by hand, but the MSI one, I have found to be flawless every time.

And if its any help for you, only last night, I upped my Neo2 Platinum, to BIOS 1.C ( I think it was ? ) and I never did reset it, I just shutdown and restarted, although I did go into the BIOS to check a few thigns such as the SATA and to clock it back up etc, but no reset.

If its any use to you on this score as well, I am just about to post a question on this one, so I will offer you what I have..

The MSI Neo2 does not seem to like large HDs.

I have been running it with the following :-
80GB Hitachi as C: and F: ( SATA 1 )
A Pair of 200GB WD SATA Drives on an SIL3112A Card.

Running peachy

I added a 250GB Seagate on SATA 2

Now, when it boots cold, its fine.

When I restart the PC, it hangs

If I am displaying the Platinum boot screen, it will stay there.

If I dont display it, it will hang on either looking for the HDs, or if it gets past that, it will hang just before it shows the windows loading logo.

I did originally assume that the BIOS needs an update, but 1C has not helped at all, and I have managed to get round this, by simply telling the BIOS to ignore the 250GB Drive and windows itself runs it instead!

My post was about this issue and whether there is a better BIOS out there!

So, perhaps this will help you out for now? I dont know?
