Nero 6 Restore problem - please help

A few weeks ago, I downloaded quite a few photos from my camera and backed up my files using Nero 6 back up utility. The Utility compressed the files and kept them on my WD external HD.

Unfortunately, last week, the disk where the files reside failed and is in the process of being RMA’d. I purchased a few HD to replace the one I had lost and installed this over the weekend. I then attempted to restore the files from the Nero backup file.

During the restore, Nero threw up an error saying in couldn’t de-compress the files.?. Yet it managed to create all the destination folders without restoring any files.

So I installed the latest upgrade from Nero then retried. I now don’t get the same message but I get a “Browse for Folder” dialog box stating me “Select the parent of your backup folder” as below….

What does this mean? I can’t select anything? Surely this should be a simple case of restoring the files?

This is so frustrating because it’s the only backup I have of the files. They are not on any previous backups i've made. It's the only time i've used nero for backing up files..

Any help appreciated.

i have the same problem trying to restore using nero! It only allows me to restore ONE FILE at a time! I have gigabytes to restore! I've basically lost all my stuff.

serious problem! anyone can help me on this that would be appreciative.

i'd be happy with even that.. I can't even restore a single file :(

Are you getting the same dialog box as I'm getting?

not sure i'll have to reply when i get back from work. Trust me you wouldnt be satisfied with backing up a single file at a time if it was 80gigs worth of data!

however you did that, i'd be pleased... I've lost about 50 or pictures I want.. I'd be quite happy to do whatever it takes to get them back. I'm not fussed about the rest of the stuff. :)

Someone has kindly found out for that the backup consists of two files: A .nbi and a .nbo file.

I'm assuming that this is the Index file and the Object file respectively.

I appear only have the .nbi file..

:(
