infra-recorder if you want to make an audio cd, imgburn for everything else! and convertxtodvd for making dvd's

Just had an e-mail from Nero, as a user of Nero 7 they have offered me a special price of , wait for it £41.99 (I think not)

Oooh I get a better price, just £39.99 for me! (I can tell I'm a valued customer) Wonder why they're different?

Anyone what a ridiculous price - why on earth would I spend £40 upgrading to a new version that doesn't seem to have any new features? The only new thing I can think of is a fancy interface in Startsmart.

What I hate even more is that it offers me a chance to buy an "extended download service" for a year for another £4.49. So if I don't pay for that then they won't let me download another copy of the software I spent £39.99 on? Even if I do, after a year suddenly I won't be able to download it and I'll need to buy another copy if I lose it? Or will I get a chance to "renew" my extended download service? Seems horribly unfair either way. By selling it from the start (like some sort of insurance) it sounds like if I don't pay now and then want to download it they won't even let me pay the £4.49 then.

Oh and I can buy a Nero "limited edition fan pack" for £14.99, which includes a coffee mug, 128MB USB stick, notepad and two pens. I can't control myself. Or there's the "deluxe" version for £17.99 which also includes a mini football. Fantastic....

I'm still using Nero 6, works fine for everything and you can strip out all the toss easily during the installation. None of this rebooting to find Nero Imagemangler has taken ownership of every image type, Nero Scout is indexing your entire PC for media you never want to play in it's lame player.

I don't suppose Ahead have been through a buy-out or management reshuffle in the last couple of versions have they? This whole product path smacks of over-zealous middle management, eager marketing idiots and underpaid programmers.

(Incidentally, Nero 7.5+ WaveEditor STILL crashes on exit... it's been doing that since V6.0 and before!)

If I may add after using this for a day now I am absolutly amazed. It might have a lot of applications bundled with it but they really do not get in the way. It feel so much better and feels solid.

NeroBurningRom from 7, end of.

if you can't figure out how to drag from one pane to another, stop using your PC right now... seriously... put down the mouse, step away from the keyboard, find you recipt and return it, NOW!

Ashampoo Burning Studio is still better IMO and I switched form the latest NERO to Ashampoo.

Never again will I have NERO!

Well after slagging of the Nero 'who ate all the pies' 8 I decided to download the trial version, 500 odd Mb is what's needed to get SmartStart and Burning ROM onto the hard disk, haven't played around with it much but I have to admit the new interface does look nice but then again I've been using 6.6 till now.

I've been using Nero since version 5 and still all I ever do is load up Nero Burning ROM, open up the folder I want to copy, drag & drop it on, hit Burn and that's it. A new version of Nero is like a new version of Winzip - what's the point :D

Ive installed nero 7 cos nero 6 wont work with vista, Ive done the custom install and only seleted nero burning rom. Nero is very simlar to version 6 if you only install nero burning rom, accept version 7 looks better:D
