Ok, I know the basics of what it is, but can anyone explain in english.

Reason?

Well, Among the stuff I needed to update ( Thats buy again even though I have already paid for the stuff ) when I tried to go to vista ( Which I have not and so I have wasted more money again ) I had to upgrade Nero.

Im happy with v6 - it does the job.

Now in v7 there is the Nero Scout.

I look all around and everyone is saying that its a total waste of time and resources and its among the most useless peices of software etc etc etc

Now, I got a mate who says that if you disable it, the whole process of burning a CD or DVD slows down badly.

Now, when I toyed with it, I never found this at all, although I didnt burn much... If at all, maybe just to try out Nero 7 perhaps, but nothing more than that, but I found it burned the test disk perfectly well.

He says that it works similarly to Vistas disk/file caching and that you really do need it.

Ok, fair enough, but can anyone give me their views on it?

He says he has looked all over the place for what it does and he says that you cannot and should not work without it and I have read the exact opposite.

I myself dont like Nero 7 so I have not had enough experience with it.

I agree 100% with you both.

I also concur that the speed of burning is indeed no different at all???

What you gonna do eh?
