I've got a bean to cup, i've got a Dolce Gusto, but when i've been in hotels i have enjoyed the Nespresso machines, especially for ease.

There's an amazing offer on atm which is most likely a glitch for a Nespresso machine. My question is, is Nespresso just for espresso or can you do regular coffees? Or cappuccino, latte etc?

And the offer:

Code: AFFSPOP59RK1

= £29 delivered for Vertuo Pop Coffee Machine and 80 pods.

You can't do lattes or cappuccino because it doesn't have a milk steamer.

But I'm quite tempted even though I have an espresso machine. That's cheap.

At £29 I’d be tempted. I can only seem to get it down to £59 which isn’t terrible, but not worth it for me.

Have been very impressed by the latest Nespresso machines. Quiet and efficient with very decent coffee. The real frustration is that the best coffee that I’ve had from pod machines has come from third party coffee suppliers, but clearly this new design is to capture the OEM market again.

The old pod design’s patent has expired, so it meant people were able to use other pods, thus Nespresso were losing money. The real money is made in the repeat pod buying, like ink cartridges so that is why they needed to change the pod design just to get that patent back again, trying to use their brand name to get people back.

Edit - they changed the design not out of improvement for flavour but out of necessity to keep customers locked in.

As mentioned above, these machines WILL get expensive as you have to purchase the pods directly from Nespresso who control pricing on the Vertuo pods. Come Black Friday there will no doubt be a ton of deals on the machines...not the pods as they want to get you locked in.

I recently decided that my old D'Longhi bean to cup located at my mothers place was a lot of hassle to use when I was visiting, so I purchased a Nespresso pod machine - the Philips L'Or Barista for £60, which came with 100 Philips pods. I mean for that price you can't go wong!

It fulfils the job of having a quick 'espresso' when I visit. Machine looks nice, and it's all plastic so I question its long term robustness but it isn't for heavy use.
I used to own the original Nespresso Pixie (old nespresso machines are so expensive now!) machine years ago and that machine was my intro to the world of espresso.

To answer OP's question - the machines/pods can do both. For milk based drinks you will require the Aeroccino or an equivalent milk frother as the basic machines just make espresso only.

Just had a blast from the past! 1998! I have one of these in my loft which I keep meaning to put back into use but the coffee is so inferior compared to a proper espresso machine. Problem with pod coffee is it’s long past being stale by the time it reaches you and sealing it into a pod will only do so much.
