anyone got experience of these?
Asked the heating engineer to add a nest into the quote for my new system and he's recommended the Honeywell as an alternative...
just wondering if there's a lot of difference in using them day to day - the web reviews aren't really that great that I've found

The Nest is good in the respect that it links to weather and the web and so you can do things like control it remotely and it knows your location etc/

I didn't like the look of the reviews of a lot of thermostats and paid extra for a nest just last year.

Was it worth paying extra and would I buy it again? Yes

I bought mine off eBay and paid a guy £60 to install it for me (you don't need to use one of their "certified" installers and most gas safe engineers would be able to do it)

I installed Nest a few months back, absolutely nothing too it, the install guide caters for all types of boilers and it's very easy to follow.

As for the device itself, it just works. Haven't touched it in weeks, seems to have learnt our patterns however I expect the real test will be how it performs over winter.

even the networking side of things is pretty easy to the outside world so no opening of ports to let it out to make it work it just works.
If you have the option I would keep a wired link between the two if you are having it on a wall it saves having the USB lead dangling around to the thermostat.

Good idea, mines in the hallway with the wiring going to the heat link (the posh junction box) through the under-stair cupboard and into the garage where it is. had a big button on the front to turn the heating on in case anything fails to connect from the thermostat.
I'm even using it with a smart phone app and IFTTT (app) so you can know when it senses motion and if it comes on when I dont expect it to I get notified etc so all good stuff
