Nest Thermostat only turns heating on when touched

Morning,

My nest thermostat has been working ok (bar a seemingly dead WiFi chip meaning it can't connect to the internet, but it's been like that for months and working well enough that we put up with it!).

But, for the past couple of days it seems to only turn the heating on if I spin the thermostat either up or down slightly, and as soon as I do that it realises it's 15c and is set to 18c and I hear the boiler fire up.

Had a Google around and can't seem to see much for this problem, has anyone had anything similar?

Thanks.

Mine had a wifi chip that died, eventually it stopped connecting to the hub.
The returns process was very good and we recieved a new one from Germany with a returns box within a day or two. The ship a replacement before you have to return and you get 309 days to send back. All i can suggest is contact google.

Worth a go, what is weird is as soon as I touch it it turns the boiler on! Am playing with some settings and tweaking the 'home away' or whatever it is called to make sure it's off - this came with the house so I reckon it's out of warranty but worth a check, preferring my previous good old Drayton thermostat and timer at the mo ;)

to be honest if the situation arose again io would probably go tado for a smart system as the roomstats can communicate with the reciever for finer control. Have you tried a cable link between the stat and reciever? It could be that due to no wifi it cant get the schedule from the cloud. I have a feeling there was a bad batch of the wifi chips due to the rapid reaction of the returns department.

Nope not tried that, I'll have a look and see how I'd go about doing that and what sort of cable I need.

Thanks though, will get in touch with their support about the WiFi issue as you never know, may still be ok warranty...

ours is connected internally with CAT6 cable. We had it done as the whole house was rewired. I cant remember how many pairs were needed.
