Ok guys,

I'm ready to splurge on a netbook.

General usage, net/photos/office

Battery life is important
As is robustness
As is size

Is 8" too small? Is 10" a better format?
are they still small enough to chuck in a shoulder bag?

The size is all down to personal preference and comfort. The original Asus EEE was too small for me to type on comfortably. 10" 'books are OK for the most part. If I had a lot of typing to do I'd sit at a desk and use a USB keyboard.

See if you can find a retailer in your area and try typing on a few models to determine how you do.

Also, what's your budget?

alas, i'm stuck on a small rock in the middle of the Atlantic, and no suppliers to hand!

Budget isn't overly important, just want something that will last a while

Plus able to take travelling with me to Thailand etc

Yeah SC10, sleek ,stylish, professional and has a long battery life. I'm using mine now instead of my desktop...its just easier!

Also 160gb of storage will be good for you if your needing to store a lot of pictures.
