Net browsing grinds to a halt when downloading torrents?

Hello!

Ive just moved over to Be Unlimited, and I must say that it is at least a million times better than the disgraceful service that is called Virgin Media. Downloads are faster, and more importantly, consistent. And the best thing is that ping times are MUCH better - it was almost impossible to play UT3 on Virgin. Now I play like a champ!! :D

But one strange thin is happening - when I download torrents, my internet browsing is virtually impossible. Even when my torrent downloader is hardly using any bandwidth. Im wondering if its something to do with the Static IP address I have now, and perhaps something in the configuration needs changing?

Cheers.

Lal.

something about maximum simultaneous connections? i think XP SP2 set a limit of how many connections your PC can have to the outside world - torrents obviously use hundreds

i think utorrent and similar programs offer a fix, else google it

probably config,

you need to limit the upload bandwidth within utorrent.

I think it defaults to 0 meaning unlimited, so if its using all your upload your net experiance will grind to a halt.

anything above 6 will allow you to download at a decent speed but cap your uploading to 6k, this does go against the spirit of p2p sharing though lol

Something deffo weird happening here.

The system is EXACTLY the same as it was when I was with Virgin. With that, even when a download was using nearly all the bandwidth, I had no problem browsing the web, albeit slowly. Now, when utorrent is started, even when nothing is actually downloading/uploading, I cannot view ANY webpage.
