Hi all,

I have an issue with my line, whenever I get a phone call or some picks the phone up my net connection gets booted off.

At the moment its set up like so:

Phone socket - splitter - modem
Phone socket - splitter - phone - 3 wireless phones

is this ok or something needs to be changed?

Thanks

Do you have a filtered faceplate or is the splitter a filter?

You need a microfilter between any device (including telephones and the modem) and the master socket, its ok to have 1 splitter at the socket with the phone extension then plugged into this.

At the master socket I have a filter (line/adsl), adsl goes to the modem and from the line i have an extention which is then micofiltered to the phones.

I havent had ADSL for a while, but if its isnt a filter - sometimes that BT msging service or services like that that store msg's on the line used to cut me off. dunno if that helps.

I had a similar problem to this back in November through to around February and for me it turned out to be a dodgy face plate and dodgy connection from the street to my house.

It's worth checking to see if when you pick up your handset you can hear a lot of background noise with the modem connected, the switch the modem off and check the handset again.

Just an update guys, the problem was with Vivaciti, they had to turn down the profile on the line and it seems to be stable now. Been running for 4 days +
Thanks

I had this problem with my sky router. But the internet would go to about 0.1mbs from its 4 meg... I went round to every phone in the house and put a microfilter on it..
