going to hand my netbook over to my son age 7 as he has bust the hinge he likes to look on utube and cbbc etc and I was wondering if there was a linux net nanny type of thing I could stick on it as I plan to install linux rather than XP and I will not always be about when he might choose to use it.

Thanks

Hmm, tbh I would just use OpenDNS and blacklist categories of websites you would like to block. It works very well for that purpose and can be configured in minutes.

I'm not sure of any host based Linux nanny style software, there are some tools you could install on a dedicated proxy server but it would likely be way too much effort to control a single machine. I think DansGuardian is supposed to be a popular choice.
