Ive been thinking of getting a netbook for a while now, i dont really need one so im not looking to spend a lot £200 - £250. I'll just use it for the net, i'll also want to stick steam on it and use it for old games such as xcom & doom, will these work on netbooks of that pricerange as i have no idea about the gfx chipsets they use.

Thanks.

im on the same boat as you mate, this is my price range for a netbook, will keep an eye on this thread, see if anything pops up that i like, but ifi were you, look at the HP Compaq Mini 311c that OcUK have, its like £250, but it has ion le graphics i think, but only a n270 processor, but i've read people saying they can overclock to around 2 - 2.2ghz and it takes like 5 minutes if that to add a 2gb ram stick into it, so :)

I have a Samsung N220 and I sometimes play GTA Vice city on it (lowest settings of course). But it's completely playable.

It's also a little beauty for working on, the keyboard is impressive, and battery life even more so. I get about 6-7 hours using the internet, watching videos etc.

The N210 is almost the same, albeit with worse speakers and no HD card, but it's worth a look :)
