Looking to get a netbook, want to spend less than £250. I've narrowed it down to the following three:

Dell Inspiron Mini 10v
ASUS Eee PC 1005HA
Samsung N130

Can anyone tell me which will be better of the three (based on personal preferences or even just looking at the specs)? Is there any other netbook which is better for the same/similar price? These all look relatively similar based on specs, so I'm not sure what one to get.

Thanks

There's a good Nova. one for £210, 10" - worth a look.

Only a 3 cell battery though, the Asus will give 2 to 3 times the operating time.

Got the wife a 1005HA for Christmas, and it seems like a cracking bit of kit so far, but I did do well and only paid £200 for it! :D

Another option is the compaq mini 311. Currently available with built in 3g and is £299, but with the various 10% codes available and 8% quidco it coms in at a shade under £250 Inc delivery. That's what I have just gone for, couldn't decide between that and the 1005ha, but the compaq won me over

Mind pointing out the 10% codes? Last HP one I had expired a while back. I'm in the market for a notebook and the 311 seems a ggod choice at the price. I lke the ferrari one but it's too steep for me.

Pretty much all mixed opinions, it looks like. I can't decide, but I think I'll go for the 1005HA.. I can't really tell why any of them would be better than the other, apart from looks, and the 1005HA looks to be quite popular from looking online, and it's relatively recent compared to some others. Anyone got any last minute advice before I order?

Does anybody see these as going much cheaper within the next couple of weeks, I need it delivered here by the end of January and don't mind waiting until then. Think it's worth waiting?

Excellent choice Chuck in 2GB of ram and run Windows 7 (32bit)
The N450 chip is due in middle of middle of Jan having been held back by Intel this may push prices down

I'd avoid the 10, for the rubbish keyboard on it. We had an NC10 in work for testing and everybody agreed it was the best of the lot. However I haven't touched the newer versions so can't really comment on them.

I've got an Acer Aspire one and find that the screen / keyboard is small enough to just about be really annoying!

Ive been thinking about getting the 1005HA but found an online retailer selling the 1008ha for £199.99, OK you cant remover the battery on the 1008 but it still lasts a reasonable length of time, this is for a N280 Processor 1008ha as well.

Is the battery hard wired in? Obviously under warranty it isn't an issue but afterwards what does it matter if you have to take it apart to change? I'd imagine some users would want to have a spare battery but for the most of us that likely isn't an issue?

Have just had a look and it's an ok machine for £200, other than asthetics and clever design it's a bit meh.

is it possible to buy the 1005ha without an OS or with linux? I can't find anywhere that sells it without windows!

1005HA has been fantastic for me, much nicer than the NC10 imo. The HP/Compaq Mini is really nice as well though, better battery life on the 1005HA did it for me though.

Not seen it anywhere without Windows on either but it just comes in a sealed box from ASUS so I guess they are just preloading it on to avoid having to sell a cheaper version with no OS, then there is the problem for your average user installing an OS without a DVD drive.

Trying to decide between the 311C and Eee's as well at the moment. I swear the ammount of time I take in doing research in to finding the best I could just spend earning the money to buy both :p

I know where your coming from. I really fancy the acer ferrari for the dual core and gfx abilities but £400 is too steep, at that price i'll buy a laptop and be done with it.

I'm in no great rush and the car needs 4 new run flats and a service which'll probably eat this months disposable cash anyway. When pineview netbooks ship there should hopefully be a little more competition and maybe more amd dual cores to help too.

I would def go for the 311 over the Eee unless battery life is a BIG consideration, due to the DDR3 RAM and Ion. What does that HP code do? I have found another for 10% off which works as well, but can't use two :(

Is it just 10% off also?

PS For anyone interested, the Atom can and has been significantly overclocked, easing its bottleneck effect on the Ion
