Hey all, thinking of getting a netbook as the girlfriend has pretty much claimed my laptop as her own! Most netbooks seem pretty similar so I am wondering if there is much difference between the Intel atoms?
however I saw pretty different one: a Sony vaio VPCYB3V1E with an AMD apu e450 @ 1.65GHz with a AMD 6320. Will this combination be better for gaming than the atoms + Intel graphics? I am not expecting much at all and I have a desktop for proper gaming. It is £350 which is a lot for a netbook (in fact I think it was last years ultrabook or something) but it does have 4gb of ram and 720p screen.

Cheers!

The AMD APU platform is good. What are you comparing it against, 'Atoms' is a bit vauge - there's many models and the latest ones are much better than the older ones.

£370 for a netbook? jesuschristonabike.jpg

It isn't really a netbook in fairness, a core i3 is a significant step up from an Atom, that would actually be quite a speedy little machine.

I still have an Acer 11" that uses one of the older dual core ULV Intel chips (1.3Ghz iirc) and it is still my main laptop for most day to day things 3 years after I bought it. I used an older netbook the other day based on an Atom chip and it struggled with Flash content!

That's to be expected, netbook CPUs are weak and rely on the GPU for back up. If you make sure that Atom based netbook is using the GPU for Flash then I'm sure it'll cope fine.

yah...i think there is much difference between the two...
AMD e450 enhance the performance of the earlier e350 fusion processor mainly with support for turbo core.it promises a decent multimedia performance while atoms is intended for netbooks and promises a decent battery life with it's low power consumption...
