A friend of mine is going to afghan for this third tour in the coming months. He has asked me to look for a netbook for him.

Requirements:,

Surfing the web

Watching Divx films.

I plan to also spec an external HDD.

What netbook would you recommend?

Edit, at the price it looks like the toshiba nb100.

You can get Acer A110 8.9" screen in blue or white for near the bottom of you budget, from a food shop.

Problem is it uses 1.8" hard drive (maybe IDE), and don't think you can upgrade memory beyond 1.5GB

I'll take a look at that thanks,

The memory will be ample I think for what he wants.

Cheers

Just took delivery of a reconditioned Advent 4211-C netbook (OEM MSI Wind U100) for £180 delivered from a well known high-street retailer. Decent spec if basic battery life and comes with 1 year warranty.
