Thinking about getting a netbook like the NC20 or NC10. The resolution appeals to me about the NC20 but I will wait for some reviews first on the CPU. I intend to upgrade to 2Gb stright away and maybe even a cheapish SSD drive.

Do current netbooks:

Play BBC iplayer full screen smoothly?

Run office 2007 acceptably?

Run Vista Home premium (with 2Gb of course)?

Loud sound output as I like watching iplayer in the kitchen at home?

I want one for the small form factor and long battery life, not too bothered about oodles of power. As long as it can do the above im happy.

I do have a samsung Q1 ultra 800Mhz, 2Gb UMPC running vista Home premium so I am used to low power PC's.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

I cant speak for all 'current' notebooks, but in respect of the NC10 I can say yes to the above questions other than the sound output. It is loud but very tinny but sufficient, perhaps a pair of usb powered speakers or something might sound a bit better.
iplayer plays full screen but I find it always looks a bit pixelated at full screen anyway but fine in a window, office is fine and I have Vista Ultimate and 2GB.

I have an NC10 and it runs 4od/ iplayer fine with1gb ram.
Not sure how vista is with it, though theres lots of people using vista on the nc10 without complaints.
Runs office 2007 fairly well anyway.
Oh yeah and as state, sound quality is pretty poor, i think you'd need speakers with any netbook really.

I think with most Netbooks, although the EEE range are supposed to be good, you'll need some external speakers to get decent sound out of it. Headphones are fine on any of them really.
