Hi all

My Dad needs to get a netbook, but I have no experience in them so I can't help him.

Something that makes IE browsing easy to view and that can handle basic Microsoft Office functions would be great.

He needs one A.S.A.P., so any recommendations would be very much appreciated.

I would recommend a netbook with xp because my dads friend got his daughter one with win 7 32bit on it and it was just too slow and he ended up getting a small laptop with an i3. A duel core atom upgraded to 2gb of ram might be able to better though.

Thanks

Ironic because my Dad is still using XP!

He may go for the Sony from OcUK which has 4GB RAM.

Thank you!

Netbook is the worst thing you could buy if your old man is getting on, even worse is the 11.6 option as the res they run at makes every word look so tiny.

If it really needs to be a netbook then a 10 inch one running 1024 x 600 would be better but they are pretty slow but can be picked up cheap second hand.

Alternatively secondhand Lenovo x60 or x61, 12 inch screen not widescreen matte screen ex-corporate can be had for less than £100 on the second hand market?

Or this in the market:

With 81 posts he will not have access to the MM.

Don't buy a netbook! I have one and constantly regret not spending a bit more on a proper laptop. They are outrageously slow.

HP DM1z. Or something of that ilk. E-350, Trinity, i3 CPU, with decent battery life (kinda the point of a ultra portable). Best take him to a store to check those ultra portables out, they are not everyone's cup of tea.
