OK, so a mild dilemma here :)
I've had a Thinkpad Z61m for the past five years and love it to bits. ( http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2987 )

The trouble is the size and weight. It weighs the better part of 5kg when loaded up with the adaptor etc, and is getting an absolute pig to carry.
To this end, I'm eyeing up something smaller to use when I go on holiday, to the library and similar stuff, keeping the Z61m for house usage.

I went into town earlier to take a look at the netbooks on offer, and came back distinctly underwhelmed. I'm not bothered about the speed or power, all I want from this purchase is Office and light browsing.
The approximate size of things is decent enough, but the keyboards are all plain nasty.

Looking on the auction site, I came across some refurbished Thinkpad X60s for approx £100. Add a new extended battery (£30), and this looks like a very neat option to me.

I suppose what I'm asking is whether there's a decent netbook competitor to something like this available? I don't want to spend silly money, but I'll spend enough to get the right machine.

It depends on what you wish to do with it, but for general work the (android) Asus Eee is very good.

I really need Windows (or a Linux alternative) for a decent office suite (Word and Excel are essential, OneNote is a nicety), on which basis I never really looked at the Android variants. Either LibreOffice or Office 2010 works for me in this respect.

Not really tried Polaris or any other Android alternatives, but I absolutely need support for embedded fonts, proper Excel formulas and not munching my formatting, which from most of the reviews I can find is iffy :)
