netbook temps

The netbooks run very hot. The manufacturers use crappy thermal pads to aid the cooling. I opened my netbook and replaced the pads for paste and also added a mini heatsink too.

The temps dropped quite a bit mate.

Well I have a Dell XPS and I found a guide on reducing your voltages and that helped drop the temps from 55 to 48 which is quite a drop. Also I found that after awhile I needed to clean my fan duck(if thats what its called XD) as my temps were hitting 70-90 while playing games which was really scary and it dropped back to 50 again.

The 701 uses a celeron 900 chip downclocked to 630mhz. This downclocking is largely swept under the carpet, I was enraged when I found I'd been robbed of 1/3 of the processing capacity. Fortunately there's a bios or two floating around which lets you run it at stock again. Anyway, not an atom.

75 is fine for a mobile cpu. Weird that it's this hot though. Can't say I've ever checked the temperature of my one, sorry.

Ok...thanks guys...well this underclocking sounds interesting..does this impact performance a lot?? Well my fan ducts are all really clean (I Hoover my bedroom every day)

I'm using Asus Super Hybrid engine that allows you to "overclock" it to 961mhz or 900mhz

It saves ~30mins to an hour on battery life when going 961mhz to 630

I give me ten mins and I'll get some temps for 900mhz and 630
