Hi

First post, as per the title, my Asus x101h which is just over a year old has suddenly developed a fault in which it will not turn on, or resume from sleep with the battery in, on battery power or ac. If the battery is taken out, it turns on, and the battery can then be put back and the netbook works perfectly. The battery shows it being charged and charges fully, lasting the normal time once turned on.

Is the battery dead, or could it be another problem?

Thanks

Richard

Replace the battery as soon as possible and stop using it, it sounds like the psu brick over current has kicked in, most likely the battery is dead and may be trying to draw to much current.

Hi

Thanks for the response, the computer is able to run on battery once I've turned it on with it out and will last its normal time. I've also checked it with health checker software and it didn't say the battery was bad. The batteries don't appear to be that cheap to buy so didn't want to replace it without it definitely being dead.

Thanks

Came across this after a search:

1. Unplug it and take the battery out.
2. Then hold down the power button for 10 seconds.
3. Then put the battery back in and plug it back in.

Another version of the same idea:

*Take out the battery,
*Remove main supply,
*Hold power button down for 30 secs,
*Put only power supply in, do not put battery in
*Turn laptop on
*Put the battery in.

Regards.

It sounds an awful lot like a fault with the charge circuit to me. Are there any BIOS updates available? Is the adapter genuine? Might be worth picking up a used battery to see if it happens still.

I've updated the BIOS but it didn't change anything, and both the battery and adapter are genuine. I might have to try a new battery, it just seems weird that it works perfectly once I've taken the battery out, booted and put the battery in again.

Thanks

Richard
