are any netbooks any good for uni? the ones I had a look at our slow

would you guys say laptop over netbook?

if yes, then what about the price? how much should a poor student be expected to pay for a decent lightweight laptop that will last "hopefully" throughout the duration of uni?

any ideas would be appreciated

thanks

I'm most likely going for a laptop this time round. Love my netbook to bits, but would like a bit more screen space for documents as well as a bit more speed. Still looking for one, and I've got a thread on this very page about it too.

You could get a £3-400 laptop that would do the job fine, unless you want to splash out and get something better. Hell, you could probably go even less than that, but it would most likely be fitted with an old cpu and little ram.

if you want a decicated GPU

you would be looking more into the netbook ( the one on OCuk (HP)) or asus 1201NL and N

for ultra light asus UL30 VT ( UL80VT) other wise whatever one has said...not sure if you can get a mobility radeon for that price <£400

try to get a 'laptop' over a 'netbook' I think the UL30 don't have a bulti in opical drive but it comes with one if I heard right?
