Would your average netbook be able to handle some of the older games about?

I.E. Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, Red Alert 2 etc.

If so I may just consider one.

Well atm, I use my desktop for browsing and music mainly.

Then comes a bit of gaming but nothing too major as I'd rather play on PS3.

Then there's a little Photoshop but I have another PC I can use for that.

So.... I'm thinking of selling my main desktop and downgrading to a netbook as a bit of extra cash would help a lot atm in my jobless state.

yes. nothing too graphics intensive though.

I played juiced in shader 2 on my dads NC10 yesterday, it was playable but a bit slow. I imagine RT2 would run fine, RA2 may work a bit slower but still playable.

Spend a bit more and get the samsung (nc10). When travelling i used some netbooks that had tiny screens and had the build quality of one of those childs plastic computers.

Looked around and the nc10 seemed like the one everyone was buying, dad is happy with it at £300 it was at the lower end of his budget and has everything he needs. Decent wireless, good build quality, big keyboard (for the size) fast at startup and good battery life. Its very small and light for the size of screen and battery life

Any recommendations on which one to go for then?

Looking at around the £200 mark.

You can get the Dell Mini 9 for £200 with Linux. The build quality is better than most laptops. Have compared it with my mates N10, the battery life isn't as good on the Dell, but it is so much smaller. The N10 looks like a full size laptop in comparison.

I looked at the dell mini 9 before the NC10. must say it looks good, i went with the NC10 because I think dad couldnt manage editing webpages on the mini for any length of time. He hasnt got the best eyesight in the world anyway.

Plus it would be easier to sort problems/upgrade the NC10 because so many people own them

Looking at around the £200 mark.

Search on auction site, i got my BRAND NEW NC10 for 230 cash on collection and came with reciept. The seller got it free with mobile internet contract. best but i made and i love it! Dualboot with Win7 and something else i cant say!

A Strawberry Mivvi ???

O.P.
What's all this Nonsence about games on a netbook
You get a netbook when you need the interwebz but aren't going to game therefore saving power & time in boot up & wear on your gaming hardware & gaining the convenience of a portable wifi usable lappy. That's why I got one anyways.
Also for my campervan ***** trips so I can still stay in touch & bother all you house dwelling nancy boys. :D + :p

/Funny mood.

I'm not talking mega games.

Netbooks appeal to me more than laptops due to their size and from what I've heard, are much quieter.

I hate noisy machines. :(

Oh, and can someone tell me where the charger port is situated?

On my old Advent laptop it was right beside the main vent causing the charger lead to melt around the connection and ultimately broke the charger.
