Currently got a hisense 65ae6100 just for my room and netflix 4k looks absolutely terrible infact my 7 year old sony 1080p looks better, weird thing is youtube 4k hdr looks really good. I have 200mb virgin and have a hdr plan with netflix. Does anyone else find this problem?

what bit rate are you seeing ? should be 15mb for UHD on netflix, 4K looks good on my sony but I'm finding this Dolby vision thing a let down. and what's point of it on 1080p stuff.

Dolby Vision is bugged on Sony TV's Netflix. There is a fix coming in the Sony Android 8 update that should be out very soon.

Something must be wrong, even HD programs on Netflix should look brilliant. Perhaps there is a problem with the APP.

On many TVs if you press the i or Info button or press one of the coloured teletext buttons it'll show you the current resolution and bitrate, try that and see what it reports.

Also try a speedtest in the Netflix app in the settings, that'll give you an idea of what your connection to their servers is like.

Do a search on Netflix for "test patterns", use these to run tests. Will tell you resolutions, bit rate, frame rate and sound versions supported.

Just as likely to be a VM problem. I'm on VM 350 with the TV connected via ethernet directly to the router and it won't always buffer up to 4K. Or it drops down to 1080 from 4k and back up again while I'm watching. Even with no other devices in the house using the internet.

which shows? the only one to stun me so far is altered carbon

Altered Carbon looks really good, was the first one I was going to mention. The Punisher and some of the other Marvel shows look great. I think it's the black levels on the OLED combined with the contrast DV gives. I would say it's the colours that impress the most, not the 4K.

Did you have to get a special version of the Netflix app for the LG?

4k is definitely on my account, but Im not getting any 4k shows (just upscaled 1080) on my B8

Will do the test patterns as well maybe I just have to convince Netflix the connection is good enough (fibre to the basement, 100mb) and Ethernet into the tv

No, just the one that came preloaded with my TV, cannot fault it. I'm connected via wireless at around 70mbps and it's been pretty damn good. I also have an NVIDIA Shield that is hardwired and that gets the full speed of 320mbps, it lacks DV though so we don't tend to use it as much.

If you have the 4K package then the shows that do have 4K / hdr / dv are clearly shown in the menus.

Go looking for altered carbon. On the main menu it should show that it’s in DV. If you can’t see that then you don’t have the top package.
