Netflix here we go again.

Anyone using VPN and paying for netflix from another country? I've cancelled my UK direct debit and thinking of paying for netflix in HK using my HK bank account.
I used a VPN to create a Turkish account a few years ago but don't need to use a VPN while watching. I'm paying around £7 a month for the premium 4K plan.

So the EE package changes for inclusive extras kicked in this month and it turns out the 1080p one with ads is free and part of the EE package you have, so for me £20 a month (plus whatever discounts I get each month via Airtime Rewards). For £7 extra you can get 1080p with no ads, or £13 extra on the EE bill for 4K:

Having watched a bit now on the ad based package, it's not too bad, usually 4 ads spread out in an average TV show, note the yellow markers for ads:

But not in everything, watching The Old guard 2 last night and I saw no ads:

We've been on the ad plan for a couple of months now, it's definitely not terrible. Although we are normally watching with a 2 year old running around so the ads are the least of our worries when it comes to interruptions

Still rocking the cheapest plan, for the odd thing we watch. Will probably cancel this month as there’s little to watch currently.

Been "Turkish" for several years now. I lost off of my payment methods but now pay via giftcards. Topping up 6 months at a time.
I wouldn't top up 6 months at a time in case they crack down on it. In fact the plan on my 3 year old Turkish account ended a few days ago and it's asking me to restart the plan despite having enough funds left for 2-3 months, I suspect they finally noticed I'm not in Turkey so not sure if it's worth potentially wasting money on another gift card to restart it.

They must have known I was talking about it! It was 200TL when I started, it's been 300Tl upuntill now.

Still Turkish here and have been for a number of years. Still using my credit card to pay for the top plan. If they ever cancelled it, I wouldn't sub again. Not only has the quality of shows gone down hill, the new layout on the TV app is god awful! Whom ever thought it was a good idea to only display 3-4 items per row on a huge TV needs their head looking at!

Yeah the new layout is terrible, makes it so much harder to find new things to watch as so little is shown on the screen at one time.

You're lucky you have a working direct payment method. I had a turkish card working but that got stopped. Since then i've been on giftcards.

Either Netflix or my email provider is definitely leaking data somewhere intentionally or unintentionally - when I cancelled nearly a year ago I immediately got spam Netflix emails about renewing, on an email account which doesn't normally get them, yesterday I renewed for a month to catch up on a show and today got spam email about my renewal payment failing and prompting to enter payment details... haven't had spam Netflix emails for months. I highly doubt coincidence and they are crafted around my activity rather than just generic spam.

I've not seen it for any other service I use with that email address so I'm leaning towards it being related to Netflix.

Seems to be a mass scale new wave of cancellations over the last week or so for Turkey subscribers. Accounts get put on hold asking to update payment method. Even if you manage to get gift cards working, or a different method, or change the region to elsewhere, after a few days it just gets cancelled again and you lose any gift balance added.
It seems the ride may be coming to an end...
Not sure if it's possible to buy via apple appstore TRY balances. I think once an account is flagged now, that's it. You have to make a new one. But people are finding that even brand new ones are getting flagged if used outside of a Turkey VPN.

Happened to me a few weeks ago, didn't bother trying another gift card as I wasn't using it much anyway so they probably did me a favour saving £7/month.

I could honestly survive without it. It's the fam that are seemingly reliant on it. My other subs seem to be running ok still. It's netflix that has been the hardest to keep going through cheaper methods.

Lose the fam too. That'd save a few more quid
