Can anyone tell me what the official and unofficial word is on sharing a Netflix account?
We have just taken a one month trial with the intention of sticking with it.
However, my mother in law currently has a subscription. We were thinking of offering her half of the subscription cost and sharing the account.
I can see that she would have a profile, I would have one, my wife would have one etc.

Obviously there is the chance we would both be streaming at the same time from different IP addresses.
Would the Netflix system see that two separate streams were being used under one account at two different IP addresses?
Or, can we share this account?

Cheers.

I use my sisters account. When I fire it up (On PS4, TV, Etc) it gives me 2 user login options. Mine and My sisters... Dunno if that's any help but seems to work fine for me. 2 Different addresses, 2 different ips, 2 different users.

My subscription allows me to have four accounts/logins (call them what you want).

I created an account for the Mrs, and account for my best mate and one for me. All three have been used for the last 18 months from different locations without any issues.

It'll be fine as long as you don't try and exceed the device limit on the account at any one time.
Just like having an account and someone watching at home while the other person is out and about and watching it on their phone/tablet/laptop.

Yup largely it comes down to how many devices your level of account allows for - so far Netflix don't seem to care if your IP is different.

Thank you all. We'll probably up the subscription to the 4 device one, but then we'll half and half with the MIL.

Just make sure to setup separate profiles for yourself so it only keeps track of what you guys are watching etc.

I've lost count of the amount of friends houses I've logged into Netflix at and not logged off again (trust worthy friends :)). My account only allows for two streams at one time but I'm yet to run into problems with anyone else using it at the same time I'd like to. You can choose to 'log off all devices' from the website so I do this from time to time.

Can't have them freeloading off me forever! :D

just remember that if you and your Mrs fancy a "steamy" film one night the mother in law can see what you have been watching :D
