Netflix woes

So when sky had the deal for the netflix i thought id grab it it ended up jsut costing me around £5 a month more for the premium including the 4k ultra hd and able to use on 4 devices so it was a no brainer.

Now i know it does not work on the 2 tb sky q boxes ie the dolby vision and 4k ultra hd ect.

The problem i am having is using netflix on my 4k tv which is a LG - 60UH850V Smart 3D 4k Ultra HD HDR 60" LED TV, yes i know its not the best tv in the world but it does us. it is connected to the network via wired connection also, i have also tried wireless.

When i use the netflix app on my tv i then browse to the ultra hd section , i then choose say a dolby vision program it works brilliantly, i get the dolby vision logo pop up on my tv on top right hande side.

Now when i say choose any 4k ultra hd content it will play but not in ultra hd. in other words i get no ultra hd logo poping up on the top right of my tv.

My broadband is sky fibre/max/ultra 80/20

I have run the network utility in the tv app it states 54mb and i get all green check marks when doing the test.
I have been to my netflix account and made sure it is changed from the high auto quality to the high quality playback via the playback settings.

I dont have a problem playing 4k ultra hd content vai plex. ye si know its over local network.

I have contacted netflix they say the signal is being pushed to my app but my internet is not strong enough ?.

Has anyone else had this ?

The native LG Netflix tv app doesn't pop up in the corner when it's playing normal 4k stuff only HDR or Dolby Vision are you purely going off the no logo popping up in the corner thinking it's not in 4k?

If your remote has the info button still press that and it should tell you what bitrate your currently streaming at (the native LG app pops the info up in the top left corner)

ok am i being completley stupid here, does netflix have hdr content i preumed becuase it said 4k ultra hd in the title that is what it should be.

And yes i realise it doesnt pop up when playing normal 4k content.
Btw i have checked via the lg app to see what profile it is in, ie for dolby vision it says dolby vision bright somthing like that, and when im playing 4k ultra hd it says 4k ultra hd lol

Cheers for the reply

I took out the free trial of amazon prime. and every single 4k ultra hd played perfectly no buffering ect and triggered the ultra hd setting of my tv. so i have no idea why netflix will not.

Has anyone any suggestions pls

There are no pop ups for 4K on LG TV's, it's just a resolution so why would there be any?

The popups are only for the HDR modes, content can be 4K and not include HDR.

There are plenty of HDR shows and a few films on Netflix, try some of the Marvel trash, they're HDR/Dolby Vision, if it's only showing as 4K then something's not right with your setup.

Sorry if i am confusing you or anyone else i am talking about hdr content which does pop up a logo in the top right hand side of the tv.
I am well aware of jsut 4k content not popping up and logos as that is a resolution change, I thought i made it plain so apologies if i have confused anyone. but if it was my setup how come dolby vision and hdr content from amazon work perfectly, as i said dolby vision works perfectly on netflix just not the hdr content.

Thank you for the replies

the content on netflix probably doesn't have any HDR content and is just 4K

your TV is working as intended. also your TV is a very good one it's one of the best tv's for wide viewing angles

so, you cannot force netflix to use standard HDR(10) , if your picture is better w/o it, or maybe your hdmi cables are not up to the increased bandwidth ?
(to wit - hdmi cable thread)

Anyway, netflix hdr content seems to be manifestly/acknowledged as limited https://finalboss.io/what-titles-are-4k-hdrdolby-vision-on-netflix-and-amazon/

Dolby Vision is generally considered superior so not sure why you would want that.

HDR content is limited in general, usually only the exclusive shows on Netflix and Amazon use HDR, there is more HDR content on Netflix, however you can now buy and watch UHD movies on Amazon but that costs extra, nothing to do with Prime content.

eariler posts - but hdr mastering levels for dv are currently maxed at 4k nits - superman + (last)mad max
so pan+lg oleds with dynamic hdr can recreate same effect as dv

from hdmi cable discussion etc. dv needs more bandwidth than hdr10 ... so point was re: op, whether hdr10 netflix would work on his tv .. I was interested if you could force neflix (I guess it defaults to that on pan tv's w/o dv too)
