Hi

I'm having problems with my router, for some reason my connection starts to slow down and then complety stop. This happens same time every night between the hours of 9.30pm and 11.30pm.

I play Battlefield 2 online, I get a message comming up accross the screen saying connection problems the games freezes up and then starts again, this happens maybe 3 or 4 times and then it does not start again. If I return to desktop and try and open a web page it says the page can not be found. If I unplug the telephone cable from the socket and then plug it back in the connection re starts but this happens again. This happens every day and is a real pain. Last night it was still ok I went to bed and got up this morning turned on my laptop and it could connect to the wireless netwok but not the internet. Again I had to unplug the wire and re connect it. the connection is very fast during the day never any issues, these issues only occurs at night between the times stated. I have now had this problem since June of this year - the time of the upgrade.

My broadband is with BT I have been with them for 4 years now. I was on the 1 meg service (Even though I paid for the 2 meg service my line would only support 1 meg) I had a call saying they had a new service 8 meg though I only get 4.5 meg. My problems started after the upgrade to the new service. I have phoned BT Broadband technical help they they are in India and can hardly speak English never mind help with my issue. They have done a line test and all is ok as I expalined to them the problem is between 9.30 and 11.30 at night. They do the line test during the day and that is when there is no problem. Though last Thursday night it happened at 9.30 pm I phoned technical help and they again did a line test and said there was a fault they repeated the test and again the fault was still there, finally I think I have got somewhere, they said they would report it to the line fault department they did the test the following day in the morning no fault shown and closed the case. Now I'm back at square one.

I did have a Netgear 834GT I returned this to the store I purchased it from and exchanged it for the Netgear 834PN but I still have the same problem. I'm connected to my main PC by a Belkin 15 meter network cable. I have 2 telephone sockets both with filters fitted. I have changed the filters and also the cables.

Please help as BT don't seem to want to take ownership of this issue, has any one else had problems like this.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply.
