hi there,

im having a very annoying wireless issue with this new d6400,for some reason it wont supply more than 40 megs wirelessly on 5g ac. i have left everything in default mode choosing europe

range is fine though. its doing this with any wireless clients i connect to,latest ios or android ac devices. i factory resseted it twice without success. im on bt infinity 2.
i love the stable modem though and the nice sync and ping. its a shame im having to use it in modem modem mode only and using my asus rt-n66u and everything is back to normal wirelessly with downloading speeds are exceeding 70 megs.

can someone who is getting more than 70 megs wirelessly from the d6400 please share their wireless configuration settings.

thanks,
kannanni

My late 2014 macbook pro is connected at around 700Mbps at the moment. I would post my config, but all I did was set my channels to the clearest band, disabled SSID broadcast, changed my password and my SSID - nothing special.

I was referring to the actual internet speed output, none of my clients received more than 40 meg internet download speed, even though network connection shows 1.3 gig

This is why I returned the D6400. I had the exact same issue. I would either get half my download speed or half my upload speed. Never both. It was always showing as connected at 1300Mbps, The lowest I saw was 877.5Mbps but still the issue remained with slow throughput speeds.

Also I noticed that when playing videos on websites with the likes of YouTube, I would get some stuttering of the video like it had slow frame rates.

Playing PS3/PS4 felt laggy too. It would sort of show the players briefly freeze for a second then speed up quickly then continue playing for a while then repeat.

I did put on beamforming which helped a little as suggested by another member mjgr33n on here. Other than that, The GUI is pretty basic so no other options to try really.

There is a new firmware out this month apparently but not seen anything on it yet.

I put my HG612 back in use with an Asus RT-N66U then the AC-68U for testing and full throughput returned.
