Hi all,

I have Netgear D7000 connected to my main BT socket with current uptime of 850hs, so I know the broadband is very reliable.

Now I have a BT HH5 connected to the netgear via an external Ethernet cable, but the I notice the connection on that router drops. I have changed the IP address of the HH5 to the netgear router address, I have turned off DHCP, UPnP and firewall, but still dropping few times. I know its not the main connection because the uptime for the netgear still 850hs + and no problems when connected to netgear directly.

Are there any other settings I am not aware of?

Thank you

You do appear to have changed everything you should have.

Try posting the actual IP settings you're using, what ports are connected to each other, and the wireless channels in use.

The most likely answer is that the HH5 isn't that great in the first place. If I was picking a wireless router to re-task as an AP the HH5 would be well down the list. (FWIW I wouldn't have given Netgear any of my money either.)

I have changed the IP address to something else instead of giving it the netgear address. Now it seems to be working fine, hopefully it stays the way. I have also turned off WPS not sure if that's relevant.

If you had configured both routers with the same IP you would have problems! I'd have expected them to be more immediate. Certainly more obvious than the symptoms you were describing.
