Hi
I have a Netgear X4S D7800 running v1.0.0.38 firmware.
I have a domain which I use with no-ip for my dynamic dns.
I have set up vpn.mydomain.com and entered this in the dynamic dns router settings. This works fine. VPN is good.
So now I want to be able to access the router admin externally (I know this is bad practice, it's just temporary)
So on the router settings page I've allowed connections from any IP address and left the default port. The router tells me to use the address https://vpn.mydomain.com:8443 to connect externally.
I've tried that and it works. Now if you're still with me, here's the question...
To make things easier and not need to memorise that port I thought I would create the additional dns router.mydomain.com but I can't get this to work, I've tried pointing it at the following with and without port redirection:
ipaddress:8443
vpn.mydomain.com:8843
Both of the addresses above can be used successfully to access the router, so why doesn't a dns work when pointed at either of them?
If you read this far then thanks for staying with me and thanks in advance for any assistance.
