Netgear DG834 + 3Com OfficeConnect 11g Wireless AP = DHCP woes

I've recently purchased a laptop and have switched to wireless from a cable desktop.

I've got my DHCP server running on the DG834 but this doesn't seem to carry across the 3Com access point, when I try to use DHCP on my laptop I never get an IP. All machines on the wired network don't have an issue obtaining an IP.

The access point is this:

Any ideas? I'm able to post this because I can get a connection when I manually assign an IP in TCP/IP properties. I'm running Vista Business on my laptop.

I've disabled the DHCP server on the access point.

Why not enable DHCP on the access point and have it serve IPs that do not overlap with the router?

i.e. have the router issuing 192.168.0.2 - .31 and the access point giving out 192.168.0.32 - 63

You shouldn't have to run DHCP on the AP at all (and there really shouldn't be one offered) - it should all be completely transparent, which makes me wonder if it's more than just an AP.
Can you set the 3Com's DHCP server to relay requests to the DG834?

I'm not sure, there's a bridge mode (it's currently running as Access Point).

Talking to my housemate, we now have no machines on the wired network using DHCP anyway, so I'm turning the DHCP server off on the router and enabling the one on the AP.

Hopefully this will resolve the issue, will report back later when I've tried it.

I figured the AP would be transparent too and would carry DHCP over it but my housemate said this is the third AP he's had and he's always had this issue :S

2nd time I've seen it as well.

It shouldn't be needed but having fought with this one previously it was easier to just allow the AP to distribute its own range.

I have the same problem with the same kit, although it doesn't affect all clients.

And my new apple imac doesnt seem to like the access point, so going to boot it.
