netgear dg834g as access point query

quick question

i have a spare dg834g that appears to have a duff rj11 socket on it and doesn't work as an adsl modem due to this

am i still able to connect it to a long length of ethernet cable from my working dg834g and use it as a second wireless access point in a distant part of the house?

yep, make sure you turn off DHCP on the router and assign the router a different IP address to the other one e.g 192.168.0.2

then use either WPA or WPA2 with a long password

change the name of the wireless SSID also
