When I download files speed is great but surfing the we is a real pain sometimes! My ISP (Zen) said there are no line problems and my exchange is green. Is the router the problem? Has anyone else had problems like this? P2P speeds are also pretty slow as well.

Have you tried upgrading to the latest firmware? Can make a big difference on the stability of netgear routers, I would know I have two :p

Are you using the router as a DNS server? At a command prompt in Windows XP type the command ipconfig /all. If the DNS server shows as 192.168.0.1 then you are using the router itself to perform DNS lookups. If so, try putting the DNS server addresses directly into Windows Network settings. I use the plusnet servers which are 212.159.6.9 and 212.159.6.10.Good luck!!

I'm using the ISP DNS addresses. I've been messing with the MTU and it seems a lot faster on 1400. Fingers crossed!
