I just bought this
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-071-NG&tool=3
for a replacement to my fubared netgear dg834g router.

Plugged in and quickly set up with WPA protection, however programs such as bitcomet and other torrent clients are going slow (less than 5k a sec). If I use bitcomet to download normal files (such as any IE download) the speed is fine.

I am using vista without a 3rd party firewall and have tried turning windows firewall off

any help much appreciated:)

followed a guide off portforwardingt website. no improvement at all. On the old router it was never set up (and afaik apart from the better wireless coverage its the same router), and on one torrent profile on a certain website I use, it would say connectable if PF was on and not connectable if it was off, however PF only ever increased my upload speeds.

Any other ideas anyone:)?

Is this just on wireless or does it happen when plugged in with ethernet too?

Could it be related to Vista and IPv6? Can you test the same thing with an XP computer?

Got my dg834gt delivered yesterday, lovely peice of kit so far :)

Prefer it over my Speedtouch 585v6 already.

Try disabling port scan and DOS protection in wan setup as its known to be over sensitive on most of the netgear routers.

just thought id finish the thread up,

on vista you must disable the new ipv6 networking thing. A quick google will give guides how to. now my torrents are going much faster, not as fast as XP at the mo but thats probably due to the torrent, and AOL keeps DC and is very slow tonight.
Thanks for all the help guys much appreciated:p
