I'll try and keep this short. 
Last week I wasn't able to sign into windows live messenger for about 4 days using the laptop, I also tried the desktop no joy. Windows update page wasn't working either (XP) and some sites at random just wouldn't load. So as both laptop and desktop wern't working I put it down to my ISP or router being the problem, my ISP's site says theres no problems there so I turned to the router.
I keep a backup file of the router settings and deleted and restored from the file but still same thing was happening. I was using old firmware so upgraded to the newest one still the same. So I reset the router back to factory settings and started again, after doing that it all worked fine, WLM, Windows update site and every site was working as it should be on both laptop and desktop.
But this morning WLM wasn't working again, windows update site was fine though and again some site were not loading. So I downloaded and tried every firmware release and am now back on the original firmware that came with the router, this was the only on that would allow WLM to work.
I'll see what happens in the next few days but does anyone think the router is on its way to packing up? Its over a year old would have thought it would have lasted longer.
