Netgear DG834PN running too hot?

I have had this one for several days now. Very happy with performance, manage to get excellent signal everywhere in the house. One issue is that it runs rather hot. Is this normal? It usually runs 24/7 and I do not fancy switiching it off every night.

Can you post your experience? Is this DG834PN related or is it true for any Netgear router/modem?

Have you got the router laying flat on something? As if you do this it does get very hot as not much air can circulate around it. The best idea is to use the stand that comes with it and then it shouldn't be a problem, though it will still be quite warm to the touch.

I had it (in the beginning) laying flat on the desk, but last night I put on the stand and it is now vertical. I have not checked the temps this morning but I was also considering (if this were the normal state temp-wise) to put some cooling brass device around to accelerate the heat exchange.

I honestly did not expect for the thing to be so warm.
