Netgear DGN2000/WN111v2 issues

Hi,

I purchased a Netgear DGN2000 router and WN111v2 USB adaptor from OCUK and have been having issues with them since.

The signal strength is only 38% despite being less than 5m away from each other and I only get 54mbps even when the router is set to up to 270mbps!

The internet connection isn't stable it appears too. It takes a second or so to load even google, almost like it isn't trying to connect. Sometimes it just fails completely as if I wasn't connected at all and it doesn't even try meaning I have to hit refresh 5-6 times before it responds and tries to load the page.

I have issues with the wireless on my iphone too. Sometimes even when connected to the router, the internet connection is unresponsive and I have to re-establish the wireless connection by turning it on and off on the iphone to get it to work.

I have also had problems in the past with the router kicking my xbox off xbox live too (which is connected via wireless adaptor) and not reconnecting. The connection test then fails to reconnect saying check connection (it shows being connected to the router and internet but not xbox live). Restarting the router usually solved this issue for a day or so.

The router is on firmware 1.1.8.0 which appears to be the latest.

I would appreciate any help you can give!
 
Set the router to channel 6 as it auto-scans on that channel to find any noise etc.

Also I find using the latest drivers better, not the netgear software, let windows manage it.

Latest drivers are 3.5.0.7 and are released by Atheros Communications Inc.

Thats if your using win 7 x64, not sure on other OS.
 
It is set to auto at the moment. Will try using the windows wireless manager rather than the netgear and see if that makes any difference.
 
The router only goes up to 270 actually. Its been much better since I changed to windows managed connection instead of the netgear software, thanks for that suggestion.
