Hi,

I just got the Netgear DGN2000 router a few days ago, and i've noticed it gets pretty hot.

If anyone has got the same router, have you had any problems with overheating or anything?

So far it's be running ok, but i have had the odd connection drop out.

Thanks.

It does indeed get very hot, I made mines stand vertically which helped to reduce the heat. You could even have the router sitting on something to give the vent below some room (e.g two pencils), it'll help anyway.

That said, I too had random drop-outs which got much worse over time untill I decided to return the unit.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, standing the router vertically does indeed help a lot, i had it lying flat but that just made things worse.

I actually might just take it back as well, it's a nice router, but these drop outs are getting annoying.

May i ask, what router did you exchange it for?

All i've had is d-link routers, which have been great over the years, but i'm curious what other manufacturers are good.

I'm actually using the standard Be-Broadband router at the moment (recently joined), but will be purchasing a Draytek router in the near future.

Their costly but it terms of quality/reliability their hard to beat.

Cool, thanks. I'll have a look at them and decide tomorrow.

I might just go for another d-link, haven't had any problems with them in the past and have been very reliable
