Hi guys.

I'm posting on behalf of a friend. I can't really give too much information really so sorry for that! Just thought i'd try my luck posting here.

Basically hes bought a netgear router/modem. He plugs it into the pc via ethernet cable. But it just doesn't look like there communicating at all. Typing the router IP brings up a blank page. The ethernet light isnt lighting up on the router when its plugged in either. The ethernet port on the pc is all enabled in the bios, ethernet drivers re-installed and device manager reports the ethernet NIC all working fine.

I can't figure out what the problem is, only thing i can think of it the router being faulty.

Try resetting the router (use pin or paperclip on the hole on the rear) or a new CAT5 cable.

Hes going get a cheap pci add on NIC to try, then he will know if its the router or the ethernet port on his pc.

What happened? Same problem here except I know it is not the network card (tried on multiple PCs), I know it's not the router (tried 3 routers), tried different CAT5's and know that my modem is fine (works when connected to directly).
