Hi Guys,

For many years I was using DrayTek Vigor 2850Vn VDSL/ADSL router.
This was instead of two devices like HG612 and Vodafone router.
Now I would like to change my DratTek because it giving me a random restart and can't handle all the devices I have at home I guess.
So, can you guys advise me what would be the best modem for 2020 to work well with Netgear AX12?
Also, I'm going back to BT, so I will get a brand new BT Smart Hub router, and this could be another solution connecting it as a modem only, but I'm not too sure if this device can act as a modem only.

Anyway, I'm looking to build a rock-solid connection at my home without a random restart and any connection breaks what so ever, so every advice is appreciated. Also, any suggestion to AX12 or better alternatives recommendation is also highly appreciated.

Also, it is worth to mention I need a router which can work with the mesh system so, for example, this AX12 is working well with EX7700 or EX8000 mesh extenders and this is the configuration I'm aiming for right now.

Many thanks
Kind Regards

For FTTC an HG612, ECI or Vigor 130 or similar. You can’t put a BT SH in modem only mode. No router of residential ISP will manage zero disconnects whatsoever, especially during the training period.

Avalon, thanks for your answer, but what you mean by "training period".

I have the BT 3 years ago and I had it for 10 years without any service interruption.
Problems started when I switched to Vodafone. Physically that's the same cabinet, the same Openreach cable infrastructure, but there was something not right.
Through all the 3 years with Vodafone, we were disconnected already few times and not for a few seconds. The first time it was for 5 full days because they were not able to resolve the problem when finally Openreach joined the action they replaced a full plot in the cabinet as there was something not tight.
Then there was speed limiting episodes which limited me to 10Mbps from 65Mbps I have guaranteed. Last week the service slowed down to 4Mbps which is again not what I'm paying for, so reached Vodafone and after roughly 4 days the speed was increased again. Magic ha?
I'm not saying that all this was Vodafone fault, might be just Openreach old stuff in the cabinet or so, but I never had it before I joined Vodafone.

Through all the years with BT I was never disconnected, not even once. All interruptions I had was my router restarts. So I understand what you are saying, but the BT even the commercial one is very reliable I would say.
So, what I wanted to say is that I would like to achieve a rock-solid connection from the hardware side, not ISP side.
Will HG612 provide this? I know it is only a modem and demodulate the signal only but I heard this need to be unlocked, others say this is outdated and no longer manufactured/supported, so confusion arises.
Thanks

I'm sorry for my late answer.
You are right I actually get both HG612 and Vigor 130 and finally stayed with Vigor130.
Purchased a new router ASUS GT-AX11000 and I have zero problems since i purchased it...
Thanks
