Im pretty clueless about wireless routers and any opinion of which you feel is probably better would be much appreciated.

NETGEAR RangeMax WNDR3300 Dual Band

or

BELKIN Play Max F7D4301UK

Haven't used the specific 2 products you list, but plenty of experience with their other models.

Run away from the Belkin. Run and don't look back.

Recently started using a Linksys wrt610n, cable router, gigabit, dual band wireless, and possiblity for usb networked storage if you want, i find it excellent.

It seems as though there are a lot of brand biases at play here, without any specific examples being given. Not trying to be annoying, but does anyone have any specific examples of their experiences with the Belkin Play Max? On paper, it looks like a good device, but I'm worried about taking the plunge, given my own mild concerns about the quality of the brand.

Basically, I need a new router which has Simultaneous Dual Band N and Gigabit Wired connections. It's going to be used on an ADSL connection, so if it doesn't have an integrated ADSL modem (which the Belkin Play Max can), I'll have to get an Ethernet ADSL modem as well. Anyone with any experience of the Play Max (which is currently the only product on the market to fit the bill), or using a Router connected to an Ethernet modem?

Thanks!

You need to find out about the particular manufacturers track record with firmware, As thats what i believe what makes of breaks a router. I have a old belkin 54g (retired) which was decent but i believe they have went downhill, A Dlink dir-615 which was terrible with stock firmware but good now its flashed with dd-wrt and also have a Linksys wrt320n again iffy stock firmware but much improved with dd-wrt. Ive also owned a Buffalo unit which was rma'd due to a defect but the particular router had just came out and there where problems with the firmware for it and now Buffalo ship with a custom dd-wrt firmware.
To answer your question I would go netgear as ive heard good things.

Thanks mate, much appreciated. I've done a lot of reading around and think that I'll be going with the Netgear and an ethernet modem... we'll see how it works out!

LOL Run like the wind if Belkin is about! I have a dsl modem here and ok its done a fairly good job its now failing. My parents had one and it would drop the dsl connection constantly until they got a netgear which solved all the problems :)

I have the WNDR3700 and it's a killer router. The 3300 isn't far off that is it :p

Too many Belkin bugs!

Belkin is the devil.

That should narrow it down abit

Still lots of negativity about Belkin. Good job I went with the WNDR3700 then! I guess I'll never know how good or bad the Belkin could have been... but that's a good thing by the sounds of it! Thanks for the input!
